Week 53

Safety is THE most important aspect of life because it is what allows us to thrive. In the absence of safety, you stay stuck in survival - fight or flight. When we feel seen and safe, we can get out of fight or flight and into our incredibly creative selves and move about this world in a way that brings us joy and most importantly CONNECTION.

So this week I'm keeping it simple and sharing this reminder for y'all

Just because we're not in physical threat doesn't mean we feel safe. Our nervous system is wiser than we are and it requires connection to feel safe.

Go out this week and CONNECT. Your nervous system will thank you

Here are 10 ways to feel connected:

1. send a friend a text to let them know you're thinking about them
2. tell a friend how much they mean to you
3. set up a virtual chat with someone you've been meaning to reach out to but haven't yet
4. putting your phone away the next time you're with someone
5. send someone a treat just because!
6. call your mom/dad and tell them you love them
7. laugh with someone!
8. do an act of kindness for a stranger
9. instead of asking someone 'how are you?' this week, ask them "what colour are you feeling?"
10. go outside, look up at the sun/moon and take in the fact that everyone on this planet sees the same sun/moon

I know for me, if I'm feeling down, I want to disconnect from others. Which only makes it worse! It furthers me feeling shitty because then I also feel alone, which feels unsafe.

But I forced myself this week not to do that. To just express how I feel to my friends who I know love me. And of course, to no surprise, they were all so caring and wanting to help. Making me know for sure, I am not alone. I am connected

So for all y'all who have been pulling away from others, this is a reminder to you to do the opposite and seek connection. Restore safety back to your body.

Wishing you all more connection this week!
